Ceramics, as an ancient and precious art form, not only has practical value, but also carries the heritage of history and culture. Whether it is exquisite ceramic tableware or precious ceramic artworks, they need our careful maintenance to maintain their original charm and value. Today, let's share with you some tips on ceramic maintenance.

Daily cleaning
Gentle wiping: Cleaning the surface of ceramics is an important part of daily maintenance. Usually, we can gently wipe the ceramics with a soft damp cloth, which can easily remove dust and some minor stains on the surface. Be sure to avoid using rough cloth or brushes, as they may leave scratches on the ceramic surface, destroy the smoothness of the enamel, and affect the beauty of the ceramic.

Choose the right detergent

If you encounter stubborn stains that cannot be solved by wiping with clean water, you can use a mild neutral detergent. After diluting the detergent, dip a soft cloth in the solution and gently wipe the stain, then rinse with clean water, and finally wipe dry with a clean soft cloth. Pay special attention to not using strong acid and alkali detergents, such as detergents containing bleach, which should also be avoided. These substances will corrode the ceramic surface and make the ceramic lose its luster.Avoid collisions and scratches

Careful handling

Ceramics are brittle and hard, and are easily damaged in collisions. When taking ceramic products, be sure to handle them with care. For some ceramics with necks or ears such as bottles, jars, and vases, pay attention to the correct way to hold them. Hold the neck or ears with one hand and support the bottom with the other hand. Avoid lifting only the upper part to prevent the porcelain from breaking or being damaged due to unstable center of gravity. If it is a thin-bodied ceramic vessel, because it is thin, light, and delicate, you must be extra careful when moving and placing it. It is best to hold the bottom with both hands.

Avoid alternating between hot and cold

Ceramics are more sensitive to temperature changes, and sudden alternation between hot and cold may cause them to crack. For example, do not wash hot ceramic tableware immediately after taking it out of the microwave or oven in cold water; in the cold winter, do not suddenly take ceramic products from a warm room to the outdoors, or directly rinse ceramics placed in a low-temperature environment with hot water.
Correct placement and display

Avoid direct sunlight

Long-term direct sunlight will change the color of the ceramic surface, especially overglaze ceramics, which may cause fading or glaze shedding. Therefore, ceramics should be placed in a place away from direct sunlight, or use curtains to block the sunlight. If it is a precious ceramic collection, you can also consider using UV filters to protect them.
